Virtue

What is your virtue? You’re an ornament to many professions, you decorate interiors for those who hesitate lest they, unwitting, purchase evidence of wealth outstripping taste. What becomes a serious woman more than serious taste? And seriously, it’s hardly a waste of time, not raising children, to raise funds. What else? You order work and run it and had spine enough to do hard duty through years when champagne parties offered you refuge from a man you once preferred.

Still, you want to multiply the beauties of the world. And do so, being in it.
